New patch project

Got an interesting order today from someone who works at Etsy:  30 custom patches.  I'm curious to know what MITS is and why/how it moves mountains.  The patches are going to be put on lab jackets so it doesn't seem like something that would be associated with etsy, although the mailing address is etsy.  Hmmm.

QDigitizing came back so quickly with a file!  And although they didn't follow directions, I can fix the issue myself.  (Their stitch count wasn't so hot either; actual count is 25% higher, after the fix; 50% higher before.)  Unfortunately, he asked for 3 colors that I don't have so I'll have to locate an embroidery thread store tomorrow.

In other news, got the Whole Foods order off ahead of schedule!

Aha Connection inquiry

Got a call from someone inquiring about custom embroidery pricing, having seen my listing in the Aha Connection!  She thought she'd have several items in the next few weeks.  It's a start...

Teddy Bear Project - Finished and Feedback

I sent Christie her 150 teddy bear patches 2 days ahead of schedule.  I thought they looked great but I was a little concerned that she would be unhappy that some of them had pale pink instead of dark pink.  It was an executive decision on my part - wait for dark pink thread, or move forward with the project.

I was concerned when I didn't hear back from her, but yesterday I received this email from her:

Hi Janet!

Sorry it's taken me a bit to get back to you, the patches worked out GREAT!! my council wants a receipt for my payment to reimburse me, can you please send me some kind of paid invoice to turn in, including the shipping so I can get paid back by them?

I will be leaving lengthy and amazing feedback for you on etsy, the whole group of guests loooved the patches. I will be back for our next event if that's ok with you!

Thanks again!!

Christie

I guess she liked them.

Local Advertising

Am trying something new today:  local advertising.  I was told about the Aha! Connection web site by one of my clients, which provides news about local businesses, events, etc.  They offer advertising for only $15, so what the heck.  I'm advertising my embroidery business rather than the items I make; it somehow seemed easier to describe and I'd like to amortize the cost of that machine more than I have to date!

It hasn't appeared yet and unfortunately there wasn't a "preview" option so not sure if it's going to look very good, but we'll see if anything comes of it.

Teddy bear patches:  122 down, 28 to go.  Just waiting for more brown thread to finish up.

Teddy Bear patch cont.

Got the embroidery files today and a pdf of what it should look like.  Looks great to me - not sure if the writing is what the client wants, though.

Couldn't find the brown and ivory embroidery thread locally so am ordering this morning from Atlanta Thread & Supply.  Hopefully it will arrive tomorrow and I can get started on these!

Teddy Bear patch

Got the order over the weekend for 150 teddy bear patches somehow connected to the Girl Scouts.  Shown is the picture that was sent to me for digitizing; it'll be interesting to see how it compares to the final patch (colors, text font will be different).  It's the first time I've sent them hand-drawn artwork.

I decided to use QDigitizing.com again even though I was very unhappy with their timeliness on the American University project.  Fact is, they do great work at the best price I've been able to find.  This is a pretty simple design and timeliness is slightly less of an issue so I'm going with the devil I know.

Love these custom projects!
